Well, this is the final episode for Shana II. Hopefully they’ll be a part III because I really enjoyed the second season more than the first some maybe they III will be even better. The subs aren’t out yet but here is the raw so you can get a jump on it. I will update this post once I get the subs.

AniServ just released a DVD upscale of episode 01. To the best of my knowledge, there aren’t too many HD raws of this episode available in 1920×1080. However, I’ve downloaded this file and made comparisons to Rozen Fansubs and Nice Boat’s fansubs and in all honestly i’m suggesting people pass on this new raw. The characters in the fansub looks slightly sharper and its less than half the file size. Plus you get animated words on the opening/closing song with the fansub. However, the fansub is 720p and the new raw is 1080p. My TV is only 720 so there is a chance that when you stretch the fansub to 1080, it might end up looking worse than this new one, but I can’t really test for that. I’ll give it credit for nice upscaling though. I wish my DVD player upscaled anime this well. DVD anime looks straight up terrible on my player.
Either way i’ve made subtitles for it since the old ones don’t match due to some different video (nothing cool, just the “Don’t watch in a dark room and sit a good distance from the TV” thing).

This is the 1080p version of the movie. I’ve only seen 720p fan subs so I decided to put this up. The picture quality is amazing. I was testing it for about 3 minutes to see if it would run on my PC and there were no blocks at all. The people who provided the raw have also provided subtitles but I think some people might miss that since its from TV-Japan, who is basically 100% raws. Anyways, here you guys go

Ehh, I looked at these and damn. Shigofumi will never look as good as you’d like it too. The DVD rips look as bad as the fansubs did. I think alot of people thought the fansubs were bad because of the people making the raws, but now its seems thats not the case. For one reason or another, this show is well drawn but its like the people who scan the animation cells have done a horrible job. Maybe its not them, maybe its someone else further in the chain of production. Maybe the blurriness is an effect they are running, but bottom line: Shigofumi isn’t a show thats going to look crisp or sharp no matter what you watch it on.
I’d suggest going with Menclave or Baka-Wolf/w.0.0.f. (no website, but just search and you’ll find them). Their quality is as “sharp” as the DVD rips but the resolution is higher so I suppose you wouldn’t need to stretch anything to watch it on a HDTV. Plus they have subtitles so its a no lose situation.
I was asked to put up the subtitles for the TV-rips. They will not line up 100% with the DVD raws (they don’t have a sponsor section but the TV versions do), but here you go:

*Update* On a sidenote, there is a group called Nightshade releasing the DVD raws with subtitles. The raw version (TV-Japan) has a full commentary track on both of the episodes released so far. I’m downloading the Nightshade episode one to see if the alternate audio track and if they translated it. I’m guessing that some group will eventually do this so it may be best for everyone to wait… or alternatively BUY THE DVD. I’ve heard the pricing structure will be $40 for one disc with episode 1, and then each disc after that will have two episodes and sell for $30. In the US we call that rapefest, but who knows. Maybe they’ll wise up and realize that even the best shows aren’t worth anywhere near $40 and $15 an episode… especially for SD.
Well, it turns out that the Nightshade group removed the commentary track from their release. Because of those, I plan on putting up subtitles. I feel like somebody will eventually sub the commentary tracks, so why end up having to download it twice?

I’m currently downloading the fansub but it’s doubtful that i’ll finish it before I leave for classes. If you don’t already have the raw, you can start DL’ing it from RAWka using the link. I will update this post around 8pm when I get home.

Well, I called it way back in the episode where Jun helps Noe put on her bicycle helmet and it is now confirmed. Anyways, an interesting episode with all of the flip-flopping you’ve come to expect from True Tears. Personally Ai-chan has the hottest body and would do whatever he asked her to so I don’t know why Shinichiro is picking between the quiet weirdo and the loud weirdo. But anyways, here you guys go. There aren’t any HD raw torrents yet, but here’s the subs anyways. I’ll update with the raw when it comes out.

Here are the latest subs and raw for Shana II, episode 23. Once again provided by the wonderful folks at Static Subs and Eclipse Productions. The raw this week is massive (like 10 mb less than double the size of last week’s) so I’m hoping it looks even more lovely than usual. I’m certainly hoping so. Even the raws have blocks when the action gets too crazy with spells and fire and quick sword fights going on.

If you’ve been following the show, you know that progress on it has been moving very slow as far as fan subbing goes. Well, it seems like Genjo is back to it at full speed. They just released two episodes back to back. On their site they’ve announced that they are about to flood us with episodes (the raws are up to like #19 or #20 now).
*Update* The good folks at AniServ have released a 1080p Episode 20 raw. The subtitles are nowhere near here yet, but i’m going to download these anyways and just keep them on ice until the subs catch up. I believe they plan on going back and grabbing the older episodes (16+) as well. I will make official threads as the subtitles come out. Until then, i’ll probably just update this one with torrent links. Be sure to check their IRC room. They are really cool people and they really do take request. They had this torrent up like 10 minutes after I asked them.
