Well, like Code Geass R2, the raws for this show are less than stellar. Theres no point to DLing them unless you’re a raw collector. If you’re hoping for improved video quality over the fansub, you will be sorely disappointed. I suggest everyone go with Gattai for fansubs.

Aniserv seem’s to have gone belly up and the original link to the torrent is now dead. I didn’t like their video quality so I posted a link to TV-Japan’s raw. Well, theirs is even worse (quite shocking because I always sing the praise of TV-Japan). I guess that Macross is like Shigofumi, a show that will never look good no matter how much you’d like it to or how good the art style is. Thats not to say that Macross is the blurry/blocky mess that Shigofumi is, but its not as good (in terms of sharpness and clarity) as say… another mech show that recently came out by the name of Gundam 00. Since aniserv is dead and the links are down, i’m looking for other places. A group called “Zero-Raws” has a file thats from the same station and resolution as aniserv, but their’s is about 300mb smaller. At this point i’m tired of DLing Macross (i’ve done it like 4 times now and I still have to DL the fansub). I’m getting a show called Kurenai from Zero-Raws and if it looks good, i’ll post a link to the Macross raw that they’ve done. Honestly though, it seems like Macross Frontier is gonna be crappy video quality regardless. I wouldn’t be shocked if the fansub (the HQ one that is) looks about as good as the raws, despite massive difference in file size.
*Update 4/10* Well, a group finally released a .mkv for this show so hopefully there will be softsubs.
Well yeah, I just DL’d the fansub and it looks as good as the aniserv raw did. When the fansub looks as good the raw I suggests everyone to get the fansub since its usually the same size or less. The group is called Gattai and the link is this:
